Our staff consists of seasoned instructors who have over 50 years of combined professional experience. They hold up to MFA degrees, boast numerous certifications, including in the acrobatic arts, and have danced professionally with some of the most talented choreographers and dancers across the globe. Our studio family has been in existence for over 30 years!

Our mission is and always has been at the heart of our studio. It doesn't matter if you have taken classes since the age of 3 or if you are in your golden years taking a class for the first time.

Our Team

Shannon Reising, originally from Washington, NC, has been dancing since the age of 3. Janet Cox imparted her love for dance so deeply, upon graduating from high school and spending her college years in the ECU Dance Department, she traveled to New York to dance professionally. She attained an apprenticeship with Dance New Amsterdam (formerly Dance Space) studying the Simonson Jazz Technique and was a member of the Raw Material dance company. She has trained with renowned dancers and choreographers such as Lynn Simonson, Diane McCarthy, Katiti King, Max Stone, Mia Michaels, Savion Glover, and Laurie De Vito. Shannon is thrilled that her knowledge, experience, and passion for dance has come full circle: Back to the “Red Barn”!

Shannon Reising

Tara Shumaker Nojima is from Wilkesboro, NC where she started her dance experience at Canipe School of Dance. There she received the Senior Ballet cup and the School MVP Cup. Tara attended The North Carolina School of the Arts starting the summer between her junior and senior years in high school and transferred to ECU receiving her BFA in Dance. She attended UNC-Greensboro, performed with several performing companies, and received her MFA degree in Dance. After graduation Tara went to ADF for the summer and began teaching dance at J.H. Rose High School. Tara has taught dance for the Pitt County school system for over 15 years! She has a wonderful husband who teaches Karate and two wonderful kids, Lila Mae and Lee Lee.

Stuart Lannon has been in the theatre world for most of his life. He is a degreed lighting and sound designer, and has worked with some of the biggest bands in the world! Stuart is also a master of flow arts, both in LED and fire. He is fearless and is always looking for a new tool to add to his extensive collection. Furthermore, he is a patient and dedicated teacher, and he looks forward to bringing his creativity to anyone who wishes to learn.

Stuart Lannon

Skyelr Reising has been dancing since the age of 2 1/2. She first began her dance journey with Janet Cox who taught her the passion of movement, close to 17 years ago. Skyelr began teaching in 2018. She has become a multi award-winning competition dancer, where all of her solos have placed platinum or above with her own choreography. She loves to teach children and revels in her favorite genre, hip-hop.
